Charity can meet an immediate need, but when possible, helping a vulnerable person develop a sustainable source of livelihood can create benefits that continue long after the initial assistance.
Allah says:
“Whatever good you spend is for parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, and travellers. And whatever good you do, surely Allah has full knowledge of it.”
— Qur’an 2:215
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The upper hand is better than the lower hand.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari, 1429; Sahih Muslim, 1033
Through our Goats for Widows and Vulnerable Women initiative, Barakah Welfare Foundation aims to provide suitable beneficiaries with goats that may help them establish a small source of livelihood.
A goat can potentially provide a family with opportunities through raising livestock, breeding, and, where appropriate, producing milk or generating income. Rather than providing only short-term assistance, the initiative seeks to give vulnerable women a productive asset that may help strengthen household resilience and financial independence over time.
Priority may be given to widows and financially vulnerable women whose circumstances make this type of livelihood assistance suitable.
With Allah’s permission, a relatively simple act of support today may become a source of benefit for a family for months or even years.
Support this initiative and help a vulnerable woman move from receiving temporary assistance toward building a more sustainable livelihood with dignity.
